Colossi of Memnon
تمثالا ممنون
Two 18-metre statues of Amenhotep III on Luxor's west bank.
The two seated stone colossi of Amenhotep III, each about eighteen metres high, once guarded the entrance to his vast mortuary temple on Luxor's west bank. In Roman times one statue was said to 'sing' at dawn, and travellers carved their names on its legs.
