Greater Cairo
Grand Egyptian Museum
المتحف المصري الكبير
A large museum beside the pyramids, home to the Tutankhamun collection.
The Grand Egyptian Museum stands about two kilometres from the Giza pyramids and is dedicated to ancient Egypt. Its collection brings together objects from across pharaonic history, including the funerary treasures of Tutankhamun shown together in one place. A colossal statue of Ramesses II greets visitors in the atrium, and a grand staircase lined with royal statues leads up towards views of the pyramids.
