Temple of Hathor, among the best-preserved temple complexes in Egypt.
The temple of Hathor at Dendera, north of Luxor, is among the best-preserved temple complexes in Egypt. Mostly built in the Ptolemaic and Roman periods, it keeps its roof, stairways and crypts, and its hypostyle hall ceiling still shows vivid painted astronomical scenes. A cast of the famous Dendera zodiac is on the roof chapel; the original is in the Louvre.
