Valley of the Kings
وادي الملوك
Royal tombs of the New Kingdom on Luxor's West Bank.
In the Valley of the Kings, on Luxor's west bank, the pharaohs of the New Kingdom were buried in rock-cut tombs for nearly five centuries. More than sixty tombs are known, their corridors painted with texts and images guiding the king through the underworld. The tomb of Tutankhamun, found almost intact in 1922, is the most famous.
